Step-by-step process

Identify your classes
India follows the 45-class Nice Classification. Software is class 9, SaaS and IT services class 42, marketplaces and retail class 35, education class 41.

On the IP India public search page, select Wordmark, choose 'Contains', enter the mark and the class.

Repeat with Phonetic search
Phonetic search catches similar-sounding marks that a text search misses. This is where most conflicts appear.

A prior mark in a related class can still block you, so check the classes your customers would associate with your product.

Read each result's status
Registered, Objected, Opposed, Abandoned and Removed each carry different risk. An abandoned mark may still be restored.
